[Indeed so. Being too honest could easily be classed as a liability or a complex. But truthfully? Between their current ensemble of absolute weirdos, there are far worse liabilities about and around. And just like the aforementioned weirdos that make up the encampment, Nephione pulls her weight. And then some. ]
Hm? No. That wasn't quite what I was getting at. Hells. If you treated everyone as your doctrine demanded, either you or our Sharran friend would be lying dead somewhere, and we'd be worse off for it. It's more... you're serious. In all respects. While that's to be expected, literal braindemons and all, it's more...
[Well.] Solemn. Almost like you have the weight of the world upon your shoulders. It's none of my business to comment, of course-
[A twist of a smile comes then. As if the sorcerer knows this, but cannot help it.]
- But we're allies. Friends too- I think. Unless I've horribly misjudged things. So, I care about you. And no. I don't find it troublesome. I mentioned I've had a run-in with organized worship before.
[Taking Nephione's lack of comment on the stew as approval, he kneels to locate a wooden bowl and begins to ladle some of it within- adding a hunk of bread before he takes both to where the fire crackles. A look over his shoulder indicates that he would like her to follow. ]
That was troublesome. You're nothing like that. Hence seeing you as a friend... and poking my nose where it does not belong.
[Shadowheart is... It's complicated. Objectively, Nepione can look past all of that, understand that Shar is simply one half to what is made with Selûne, but there are very, very few Selûnites who would be that understanding. And though the tiefling is inclined to be somewhat open about her devotions with the others, there's a relative quiet she keeps with her half-elven ally. It would do no one good to have the two at one another, though Nepione would likely too-easily surrender if she felt she had to for the greater good.
Her expression turns curious at his assessment of her person. Serious. Yes, she supposes she rather is, though perhaps she's not realised how much that comes across. Maybe she's simply always thought no one else has noticed. Why would they? They've their own lives and demons (some literal) to deal with. But... this is Ara and he has been nothing short of observant in her time knowing him. It's something to be admired, and perhaps, feared a bit.
She does, so much, like keeping a good deal of herself to herself.]
If you keep that up, you're going to embarrass me.
[She laughs a little, following after him rather easily. He really is serious about making sure she gets something to eat. They've certainly had lesser pleasant things to eat. On the contrary, she doesn't terribly mind the adventure that will likely be the stew for the night. Folding her hands together, she manages to find just a touch more courage to speak.]
I'm all right. I know I can be a little too serious at times, but I don't think I realised anyone else noticed. Perhaps I'll adjust my approach a bit. I don't want to cause any of you concern. It's a little easier when I'm worrying about the rest of you as opposed to the reverse.

[Ever the double standard.]
