ACT 2
COMPANIONS: SHADOWHEART

This made Shadowheart believe that a Temple of Shar must be close by, and she became determined to find it → Discovered the corpses of Dark Justiciars in the House of Hope's graveyard. Eventually discovered the Temple of Shar → Shadowheart identified the temple as the Gauntlet of Shar, a proving ground for those to be anointed Dark Justiciars → Shadowheart completed the trials and found the Spear of Night and proceeded to her final test → Entered the Shadowfell with Shadowheart → Found her final test was the murder of a daughter of Selune, who had been captured and imprisoned within the Shadowfell. This daughter is also the Nightsong- the source of Ketheric Thorm's immortality → Convinced Shadowheart to spare the Nightsong and turn her back on Shar → Shar is furious and dire consequences are to come.

COMPANIONS: LAE'ZEL
Lae'zel promised that our parasites could be cured at a Githyanki Creche. Journeyed there with Lae'zel → Infiltrated the creche → Located the purification device and allowed Lae'zel to be treated first → Instead of extracting the tadpole, the device almost killed Lae'zel. Convinced her to get out of it → Locked in the treatment room afterward, and attacked by the Githyanki within the creche when they escaped → Lae'zel insisted upon informing the Inquisitor at the creche, saying the device had been tampered with → The Inquisitor insisted that the artifact was handed over. Refused, and killed him → A projection of Vlaakith appeared, and demanded they enter the artifact and slay a prisoner held within → Entered the artifact and realized the prisoner is the guardian → Learned we cannot kill them without losing our protection against turning into mindflayers, as they are utilizing the power of the lost Githyanki prince Orpheus, the original prisoner of the Artifact → Attacked after we exited the prism, on Vlaakith's orders → Fought their way out, killing all members of the creche → Lae'zel needed time to consider the ramifications of making an enemy of her race and her queen, as well as the knowledge that Prince Orpheus lives → A projection of Vlaakith appeared in camp and made Lae'zel the offer of killing Orpheus and ascending to the Astral Plane and becoming Vlaakith's chosen. Convinced Lae'zel to refuse, and she believes that Orpheus is the way forward for the Githyanki race.

COMPANIONS: WYLL

The cost of failure is Wyll's soul → Searched Moonrise Towers, but could not find Mizora → Found Mizora in a Mindflayer colony underneath Moonrise Towers → Convinced Mizora to agree to release Wyll from his pact if she was rescued, but not before 6 months had passed → Rescued Mizora, releasing Wyll.

COMPANIONS: ASTARION
Astarion insisted upon speaking to Raphael about a matter important to him the next time he was seen → Raphael was found at the Thorm Mausoleum → Astarion asked about the meaning of scars written in Infernal upon his back, a gift from Cazador Szarr → Raphael agreed to translate on the condition that an orthon lurking within the depths of the mausoleum was slain → Discovered the orthon was subject to a pact with Raphael. Convinced him to kill himself to fulfill his pact → Raphael was true to his word, identifying the scars as the Rite of Profane Ascension- a sacrifice of vampire spawn by a master vampire in exchange for great power → Astarion realized that he was the missing piece of the ritual and that Cazador was hunting for him for that reason → Astarion decided that the only way to proceed was to destroy Cazador and undergo the rite himself to gain this power.

COMPANIONS: GALE
Gale's condition was unresponsive to magical offerings, and worsening → Met with Elminster who insisted upon speaking to Gale about an urgent matter. Invited him to camp → Elminster revealed that he carried a message from Mystra, instructing Gale to find "The Heart of the Absolute" and destroy it, and himself, using his Orb to regain her favor. → Attempted to convince Gale to refuse, yet he needed time to process this request. → Upon infiltration of Moonrise Towers, a ritual circle was found that uses Shadow Magic as the source of its power. → Gale debated the choice between using the circle to create an upgraded Moon Lantern but ultimately decided (with Tav's support) to destroy it as he would have done in the past, as Mystra's chosen. → Upon finding the heart of the Absolute, an elder brain controlled by Karsus' crown, Gale was convinced that he should not detonate the orb, and disobeyed Mystra → Gale mentioned his interest in the Crown of Karsus, and theorized that the Absolute could be destroyed if he could get his hands on it.

COMPANIONS: KARLACH
Karlach was overheating and needed an infernal mechanic to tune up the engine in her chest before she exploded → Brought Karlach to Dammon, a Tiefling originally met in the Emerald Grove, but with the Harpers at the Last Light Inn → Dammon used our stock of infernal iron to patch Karlach's engine, enabling her to touch objects and people once more, but couldn't repair it. He gave the bad news: that her engine simply couldn't keep going outside of the Hells, and that Karlach would die if she did not return to Avernus → Karlach refused to return, saying that she would sooner die → Tav supported her during this decision and Karlach vowed to use the rest of her time well.

ACT 3
COMPANIONS: SHADOWHEART
Shadowheart shares a memory with Tav of being a lost child, pursued by a wolf through a dark forest. Shar worshippers, led by a masked Mother Superior, came to her rescue. Tav tells her that the memory is similar to a traditional Selunite coming-of-age rite- where children would have to navigate their way home by the light of the moon. Shadowheart is troubled by the comparison. → Shar punishes Shadowheart by stripping her of her favours and exiling her from the church → Dame Aylin reveals the truth to Shadowheart, that she was abducted and indoctrinated by the Sharran church. Shadowheart's parents live in captivity. Shadowheart prepares to go to Baldur's Gate with the party, and Tav agrees to rescue her parents and free her from Shar's influence. → A Sharran lookout named Ferg Drogher tells Shadowheart to present herself for judgment by her old cloister in the House of Grief. → At the cloister, the Mother Superior, Viconia De'vir, challenged Shadowheart to decent further for her judgment. → Viconia offers Tav the support of the Sharran church if he hands over Shadowheart. Tav refuses. → Viconia and her cloister are defeated and Shadowheart proceeds on, eager to reunite with her parents. → Two prisoners are found, and Shar's final vengeance begins. She tells Shadowheart that if she kills her parents, Shar's hold over her will disappear. → Tav convinces Shadowheart to spare her parents, and while this shatters Shadowheart's faith and purpose, she can finally reconnect with the family that was lost to her.

COMPANIONS: LAE'ZEL
Kith'rak Voss appeared at the party's campsite and claimed that Orpheus was key to liberating the Githyanki people from Vlaakith. → Tav agreed to meet Voss at Baldur's Gate, where Voss knew of someone who could break the prince free. → The party finds Voss arguing with Raphael about Orpheus. Tav agrees to speak to Raphael to learn how the prince may be freed. → Raphael offers Tav an item known as the Orphic Hammer, stating that it is the only way to release the prince. In exchange, he asks for the Crown of Karsus. Tav refuses, much to Lae'zel's fury. Tav convinces her that he still intends to free Orpheus, but will not enter a deal with Raphael to do so. → Lae'zel suggests that the party speak to Voss, in the hope that he would know of another way to free Orpheus from his prison. → Voss suggests a way to break into the House of Hope, and awaits the party's return in the city sewers. → The party finds their way into the House of Hope, and obtains the Orphic Hammer. → Voss leaves to gather his allies for the return of the prince. → Lae'zel is kidnapped by Orin the Red. → Lae'zel is recovered and is grateful for her rescue. → When the attempt to dominate the Netherbrain fails, the party betrays the Emperor and frees Orpheus using the Orphic Hammer. → Lae'zel fights by his side in the final battle with the Netherbrain, and after the battle, leaves with Orpheus upon a red dragon to take the fight to Vlaakith and free her people.

COMPANIONS: WYLL
Wyll confesses that he is the son of Grand Duke Ravengard, the defender of Baldur's Gate and head of the Flaming Fist. → At Gortash's ordination, Wyll is shocked to see that his father has been implanted with a Mindflayer parasite, and, following the orders of the Absolute, gives Gortash power over the city. → Mizora appears to Wyll at the coronation, telling him that his father was imprisoned soon after the ceremony, and tells Wyll that if he agrees to an eternal pact with her, she will reveal his location and promise his safe return. Otherwise, Grand Duke Ravengard would die. → Wyll, with Tav's input, decided that he would accept the pact. → Tav agrees to locate and rescue Grand Duke Ravengard, and rescues him from the Iron Throne. → Tav begins to argue with the Emperor, who does not wish to bring Gortash under Orpheus' protection. → Tav secures protection for Ravengard from the Emperor, but at great cost to their alliance. → Ravengard tells Wyll that the only way for him to save Baldur's Gate is to awaken a dragon that sleeps under the city, named Ansur. The party embarks upon this objective. → Upon awakening Ansur, the party learns that the Emperor's identity before becoming a Mindflayer was Balduran, the founder of Baldur's Gate. Ansur implored the Emperor to kill himself after becoming a Mindflayer, but was killed by the Emperor in retaliation. → After reporting what happened to Duke Ravengard, Wyll renames himself the Blade of Avernus, and devotes himself to protecting the Sword Coast by hunting devils, within the Hells and without.

COMPANIONS: ASTARION
Astarion meets Ulma, the leader of a tribe of monster hunters → Ulma recognizes Astarion as the one who stole the tribe's children for Cazador, but thanks to Tav's convincing, allowed Astarion a chance to redeem himself by finding their children, and killing Cazador. → Astarion meets two fellow vampire spawn at a flophouse and tells them that freedom doesn't await them after the ritual, that they will be dead instead. → Astarion learns that Cazador's ritual is to take place beneath Cazador's palace. → With Cazador's palace, Astarion meets Sebastian- one of his first victims. Instead of feeding on him, Cazador turns him into a vampire spawn and locks him in the dungeon, something which shakes Astarion, and makes him question if ascending is worth the lives of people in the same situation as him. → The group learns that Cazador's staff controls the prison, and to release the prisoners, it must be taken from him. → Upon confronting Cazador, Astarion is overpowered and dragged into the ritual. → Tav and the party defeat Cazador, who retreats into his sarcophagus to heal. → Astarion drags Cazador out of his sarcophagus and asks for Tav's help in completing the rite so he can ascend. Tav refuses. → Tav convinces Astarion that with Cazador dead, he doesn't need to fear anything any longer, and does not need to sacrifice the other spawn to ascend in order to be rid of that fear. → Astarion kills Cazador and releases his brothers and sisters, remaining a vampire spawn until the end of his days.

COMPANIONS: GALE
Gale speaks with Tav about the Crown of Karsus, and suggests visiting Sorcerous Sundries' back shelf collections to find more information on Karsus and the crown. → The party breaks into the vaults of Sorcerous Sundries and find the Annals of Karsus. → Gale reads the tome and finds the original design for the crown of Karsus, meaning that he can reforge the crown and take control of it to end the Netherbrain. → Gale is direct with Tav, stating that he also wishes to use the crown to dethrone Mystra, and make the two of them gods, having lost faith in Mystra's will. → Elminster is aware of Gale's discovery and comes to the group in order to go to Mystra once more. Only Gale is invited to this summons. → Mystra finally tells Gale the origin of his orb. It is the Karsite Weave, a half-formed magic that was created when Karsus attempted to challenge Mystra for her godhood. → Mystra tells Gale that if he returns the crown to her, she will rid him of the orb, permanently. → Gale considers this proposal against using the crown himself, and having the Karsite Weave answer to him. → Gale approaches Tav with his mind made up to seize this power for himself, but Tav convinces him to submit the crown to Mystra- telling him that he is enough. → Gale offers to use his orb to destroy the Netherbrain. Tav refuses. → After the Netherbrain is defeated, Gale becomes Mystra's chosen.

COMPANIONS: KARLACH
Karlach reveals that Gortash was her former boss- and the man who sold her into slavery in the Hells. She demands her revenge. → Upon finding that Gortash is being ordained as Archduke, Karlach and the party confront him. → Gortash is unrepentant and offers Tav an alliance in order to take down Orin the Red. Tav refuses, and Gortash decides that he simply needs time to consider the proposal. → After the party has stopped with production of Steel Watchers and destroyed the Iron Throne, they attack Gortash. → Karlach kills Gortash, but finds that her need for vengeance is unsated. → Karlach despairs, knowing that even though she has killed the one who did this to her, she's still going to die. → Karlach leaves the party, needing time to think. → Karlach rejoins, deciding that all she wants is to see the city saved. → When the Netherbrain breaks free, Karlach asks to be turned into a Mindflayer, so she can save the city. Tav agrees. → Karlach finds that as a Mindflayer, she no longer has to fear her own death, and the transformation ensures that she will live. → Karlach and the party defeat the Netherbrain. → Karlach imposes her will upon the Netherbrain, and commands it to destroy the tadpoles and then itself, saving Baldur's Gate and the Sword Coast.

COMPANIONS: HALSIN
Nothing applicable. Like straight up, the game forgot about him here.

COMPANIONS: JAHEIRA
Jaheira asks Tav to visit Danthelon's Dancing Axe in order to meet with her Harper contacts. → The rendezvous turns out to be an ambush by doppelgangers, who had murdered the Harpers and taken their forms. → Jaheira tells Tav that she was looking for information on an old friend who was taken by the cult of the Absolute- Minsc of Rashemen. → Jaheria and Tav make contact with Nine-Fingers Keene, leader of a guild of criminals in the Lower City in the hope that Keene has a lead on how to find Minsc. → Keene reveals that Minsc is head of a rival criminal gang and goes by the moniker "Stone Lord", and that she will deal with him. → Jaheira asks Tav to intercept this attack, and Tav agrees, finding out that the trap is to be sprung at the Counting House. → The party finds Minsc robbing the vault beneath the Counting House. The party allows him to escape the trap, but he teleports away. → The party finds Minsc's hideout- in the sewers of the Lower City and proceeds there at once. → Upon finding Minsc's hideout, the party learns that he carries a tadpole and has been brainwashed by the cult of the Absolute via obeying a doppelganger that has taken Jaheira's form. → Minsc is subdued (not killed). → Tav asks for the Emperor's aid in protecting Minsc from the Absolute. The Emperor initially refuses, yet Tav convinces him to do so, at great cost to their relationship. → Minsc (and Boo) are recruited.

PERSONAL QUEST
Upon setting out for Baldur's Gate, the party is attacked by Vlaakith-sworn Githyanki. Simultaneously, the Guardian is under attack within the Artifact. → The party fights off the Githyanki and enters the Artifact, finding themselves in the Astral Realm. → The Guardian is revealed to be a Mindflayer who names himself The Emperor. He insists that he will explain everything, and asks for the party's help in keeping a Githyanki subdued within the prism, by killing the Githyanki attempting to save him. → Tav and the party agree and kill what is revealed to be the honor guard of Prince Orpheus. → After Orpheus is reimprisoned, the Emperor makes the explanation that Orpheus' power is the only reason why the party is protected from the Absolute, and without him to harness it, they will turn into Mindflayers. → The Emperor explains that their goals align, that he is untethered to the Absolute's will, and that he wishes to destroy it to truly free himself from it. → Tav agrees to maintain their alliance, even while knowing the truth, and returns to the Material Plane. → Events come up that shake Tav's faith in the Emperor, namely his refusal (without some serious convincing) to place Duke Ravengard and Minsc under his protection. → When Tav and the party awaken Ansur, they find that the true identity of the Emperor (pre-mindflayer) was the founder of Baldur's Gate, Balduran. However, they also discover that the Emperor killed Ansur. → Due to this, Tav decides that he needs insurance, and decides to approach Raphael. → When Raphael briefly blocks The Emperor from Tav's mind while they discuss the means to release Orpheus, The Emperor is suspicious. → The Emperor disapproves of Tav's journey into Avernus in order to obtain the Orphic Hammer, and tries to instill more faith in him by having him visit where he originally resided, the basement of the Elfsong Tavern. → Tav finds a great number of the Emperor's possessions and is convinced... until he finds a secret passage into another chamber. Tav discovers invasion plans for the Sword Coast, and even more disconcertingly, books illustrating how the Emperor made Duke Stelmane, an ally before Tav, a thrall via psionic interference. → After this, the Emperor comes to Tav in his dreams, and attempts to make a ...different kind of appeal to him, insisting that he is taking a different approach to Tav than Stelmane. → Tav refuses. → The Emperor disparagingly remarks upon Tav's refusal to take any parasites thus far and insists that consuming them is the only way he can destroy the Netherbrain. → Tav, once again, refuses. → Tav is given an Astral Tadpole to accelerate his transformation in case he changes his mind. → When attempting to take control of the Netherbrain, The Emperor saves Tav from the psionic backlash and takes him and the party to the Astral Realm. → The Emperor then tells Tav that he can either give the Emperor the Netherstones or transform into a Mindflayer in order to take on the Netherbrain. → Tav betrays the Emperor, and frees Orpheus. → The Emperor joins the Netherbrain. → Orpheus is understandably pissed at his imprisonment, the killing of his honor guards, and the fact it took Tav this long to free him. → Tav calms Orpheus, by insisting that dealing with the Netherbrain is far more important than arguing. → Orpheus says that the Emperor was right about one thing- that a Mindflayer is the only creature that stands a chance against the Netherbrain. → Karlach volunteers to become a Mindflayer. → Tav accepts, and the party fights their way through the Upper City to the Netherbrain. → Karlach imprints her will upon the Netherbrain and gives it two commands, destroy the tadpoles, and destroy itself. → Karlach saves Baldur's Gate and the Sword Coast.

MAIN PLOT
Upon arrival in Rivington, the party discovers that the gates have been shut to the waves of refugees fleeing the Absolute Army. → The party decides to gather the remaining Netherstones by killing Orin the Red, Chosen of Bhaal, and Archduke Gortash, chosen of Bane. → The party discovers that Steel Watchers, automata with tadpoles, are the new law enforcement, and they have been installed by Gortash, the Chosen of Bane. → The party is prevented from being taken to prison by the Ironhand Gnomes and sneak into the city thanks to their distraction. → The party unites with the Ironhand Gnomes and find that the Steel Watchers are being manufactured by Gondian gnomes and that the Ironhands intend to blow up the foundry, stopping production. → The party received the runepowder bomb in order to complete this objective. → The party attends Duke Gortash's coronation as Archduke and refuses to make an alliance with him. → Gortash states that Orin the Red has already infiltrated their camp. → Orin kidnaps Lae'zel, telling the party that she will release the Githyanki if they kill Gortash. → The party sneaks into the Foundry (where Steel Watchers are made) and agrees to help the enslaved Gondians break free, by freeing their imprisoned families which are being used as leverage against them. → The party learns from Mizora that Duke Ravengard is being held at the Iron Throne. → The party frees Ravengard, Omeluum, and the imprisoned gnomes and destroys the Iron Throne, bringing about an end to Duke Gortash's offer of an alliance. → The party makes their way to the Foundry and assists the Gondian Gnomes in fighting back. → The party plants the runepowder bomb within the foundry, halting the production of Steel Watchers once and for all. → The party learns from Duke Ravengard that a dragon sleeps beneath Baldur's Gate, and will be indispensable in times to come. → Upon waking up the dragon, the party has no choice but to kill it. → The party confronts, and kills, Archduke Gortash and takes his Netherstone. → The party begins looking into Orin the Red by investigating the murders at the Openhand Temple. → Orin the Red briefly appears before the part in a shapechanged disguise, teleporting away. → The party finds the culprits, doppelgangers within the temple's basement. → The party learns that Duke Stelmane was ritualistically killed at the Elfsong Tavern. → The party finds a target list, as well as multiple pieces of evidence that are Bhaalist in nature, linking the murders to Orin the Red. → The party shows Investigator Valeria the evidence and is directed to Gauntlet Devella. → The party warns the other names on the list of what is happening. → The party saves a potential victim from the Doppelganger killers but fails to apprehend them. → The party finally apprehends the killers as they attempt to kill the next victim, Figaro Pennygood. → The party finds a note on Dolor showing his next location, a tombstone maker in the Lower City. → The party becomes aware of a Murder Tribunal, granting serial killers that impress their entry into the Temple of Bhaal. → The party defeated Justice Sarevok and his Tribunal, stopping the killings in Baldur's Gate. → The party goes through the Temple of Bhaal, finding the captive. → The party rescues Lae'zel, and kills Orin- taking her Netherstone. → With the hold on the Netherbrain at its weakest, it begins to transform infected citizens of Baldur's Gate into Mindflayers. → The party confronts the Netherbrain, and Tav attempts to exert control over it with the Netherstones, but fails. → The Emperor saves Tav and the party and informs them that the reason why they failed is that they are not Mindflayers. → The Emperor then tells Tav that he can either give the Emperor the Netherstones or transform into a Mindflayer in order to take on the Netherbrain. → Tav betrays the Emperor and frees Orpheus. → Tav accepts, and the party fight their way through the Upper City to the Netherbrain. → Karlach imprints her will upon the Netherbrain and gives it two commands, destroy the tadpoles, and destroy itself. → Karlach saves Baldur's Gate and the Sword Coast.
